I Can Make It Better
It was a simple query that I hadn’t expected. It wasn’t that what I was doing was completely out of left field. For the past thirteen or fourteen years, I’ve worked to create simpler internet experiences. The question itself had caught me off guard.
“Why the interest in SEO?”
The answer was fairly simple. Someone had to tackle it. To create something that would simplify the major ideas of good SEO without over complicating the process, or causing someone to waste their time in fruitless exercises.
Many SEO players are still just sleazy fly-by-night outfits that will get someone on the front page of the SERPs, only to get dropped to the bottom of the pile once the money stopped rolling in.
Some companies, like Moz, have done a great job creating tools about SEO and put a lot of information out into the world, but it can be overwhelming for regular site owners and even some developers.
At first, I wasn’t sure that there was anything I could add. But much like the work I perform in my day job, I knew that I could make it simpler.
Many clients that I have worked with are always asking me SEO questions. Occasionally, the SEO team will make unnecessary demands to the detriment of a user’s experience with a site.
So, after a brief pause, I answered “I can make it better.”
